Breeding Program

We are very fortunate to be mentored by a wonderful group of experienced and successful basset hound breeders.   They have trusted us with their dogs to train and show and allowed us to participate in the evaluation of bitches, selection of sires, and whelping of litters.   Under their careful tutelege we have been co-breeders on more than six litters and shown and finished championships from the Bred by Exhibitor class.

Genetic Testing

We believe strongly in genetic testing of our breeding stock.   Our dogs are screened for:

• eyes:   glaucoma indicators (narrow angles) and CERF
• joints:   hip & elbow evaluation
• bleeding:   thrombopathia (Auburn test) and Von Willebrands
• temperment:   shyness and aggressiveness

Litter Plans (as of December 2011)

We bred Biscotti but will not know about puppies until mid January.

We will try again with Hoppy when she is in season in the winter.
